Improving Employee Engagement To Boost Sales

 

Essentially, employee engagement is connected to productivity, company culture, safety, absenteeism, retention, and customer engagement. Companies now realized that employee engagement sell more than employees that are disengaged. Thus, companies now aim to look for a sustainable competitive environment in the office to help increase employee engagement among their staff.

 

However, in case we step back and really thing about the real effect of employment engagement, it only makes sense that the engaged employees should be able to boost sales. Even though each firm defines employee management quite differently, there are still some universal characteristics that bind them together such as:

 

o             Deep positive emotions - Most often these are engaged employees feel satisfaction, happiness and other positive sentiments during work through employee retention.

 

o             Enthusiasm - The engaged employees are more passionate about their job and what they do. For instance, a doorman who is engaged to their job usually has a smile and kind words for everyone who enters the door.

 

o             Sense of Meaning in Their Work - These are the employees that feel that their work has meaning and is important. For instance, a hospital has different workers; a janitor who enthusiastically maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the hospital since he appreciates that his work is also important in saving lives could be more engaged than the surgeon that does his duties mechanically without appreciating the impact his work has.

 

o             Additional Effort - The engaged employees getting employee performance appraisal often goes above and beyond their work to make sure that the employer and customer's expectations are met so they are willing to do extra effort.

 

As a whole, employee management is basically the type of attachment that workers have to their job. It could be a positive one or a negative one. However, the positive side offers more profit opportunity for the company and increasing the overall revenue. This is why a lot of companies not only invest in their products and services but also invest in their employees. They make sure that their employees are satisfied and happy with their job to increase productivity. This is basically a win-win situation for both the employers and the employees.

 

You have to put yourself in the customer's shoes. Most often that you will find out that an upbeat, passionate salesperson is clearly more attractive than a morose, apathetic agent.  When you consider everything, it is only natural to conclude that engaged employees should be able to boost sales compared to their disengaged counterparts.
